The YSD Track Cycling Championship Series 5 showcased the overall dominance of the national elite cyclists with impressive performances in every category. The final Keirin event saw Ridwan Sahrom continuing the legacy of Shah Firdaus by clinching his fourth personal gold, following his triump in the sprint event in the fourth series last Saturday.
Ridwan's drastic improvement is the result of intensive training with Olympic-level cyclists, where he was chose as a training partner for riders heading to the Paris Olympics. "When I train with Datuk Azizul and Shah, we train in 'high-speed mode,' so I can improve from there," said Ridwan. He acknowledge utilizing all the techniques he learned and applying them in races, leading to this proud achievement.

In the women's competition, Anis Amira Rosidi stole the spotlight again by winning two gold medals in the sprint and Keirin events. Anis, who had previously been overshadowed by the extraordinary achievements of the much younger Nurul Izzah Izzati Mohd Asri, demonstrated a high fighting spirit to not fall behind in performance.
Anis admitted the she needed to showcase her best performance as she is a reserve athlete with the potential to compete in the Paris Olympics. "I have to show my best because I am in the 'reserve' for the Olympics. If anything happens, I can be the replacement," explained Anis.
